Looking to Burn Some Calories? Give Kickboxing a Try

There are many ways to burn calories. Even sitting still burns a few calories every hour, although it’s not the best thing to do for your health. Some activities are better than others for burning calories and helping you stay on the straight and narrow if you want to lose weight and tone up. Kickboxing is one of them.

Now you could get a DVD and try it on your own at home. However the best way to get the most out of the sport and to learn the proper way to do it is to take a class. If you’re looking for a way to get fitter, burn more calories and tone up all in one hit, kickboxing definitely ticks all the boxes.

The number of calories you can burn will depend on your weight to begin with. The more you weigh the more you burn. One example from Harvard research revealed a person weighing around nine stone would burn 600 calories in an hour. In contrast someone weighing a little over 13 stone would burn a whopping 888 calories every hour.

Even a half-hour class of fairly intensive activity can be a great calorie burner for anyone looking to reduce their weight and build up some muscle. You’ll get the best results from regular effort and the more you practise the better you’ll get too. In fact you might soon notice you feel more sluggish if you miss a class.

Admittedly kickboxing may not be the first thing you think of when you’re looking to take up a new sport or activity. But as you can see, it has plenty going for it. In fact you might find you look back on the day you started as the day you began to burn off more calories than ever.
