Kickboxing for Weight Loss

Sometimes it seems as though we’re all trying to lose weight. Getting more exercise will definitely help in this area. Burn more calories and you’ll be more likely to run to a deficit in calories each day. Eat less and eat more healthily and the pounds will start melting away.

But some sports are going to be better than others in terms of losing weight. Kickboxing for weight loss is up there with the best of them. The actual number of calories you would burn in an hour-long class would depend on your weight and the exercises you did. The more you weigh to start with, the more calories you’ll burn.

However a woman weighing around 135lbs is likely to be able to burn at least 350 calories an hour. It could go as high as 450 calories depending on how even the upper- and lower-body burn is.

Kickboxing will also kick-start your metabolic rate. If this increases you’ll burn more calories the rest of the time as well. The more muscle you have the more calories you’ll burn… and so on. Needless to say, kickboxing has the potential to burn serious calories and to get you fitter as well – all of which is great news if you’re trying to lose weight.

Of course exercise is only half the equation. However it can be easier to eat more healthily when you know you are feeling fitter and better in yourself. As such, plenty of people go to kickboxing classes to help get them on a leaner and fitter path.

Many forms of exercise only focus on one part of the body. For example walking focuses on the lower body and weight lifting on the upper. However, kickboxing can focus on both for the best calorie burn and fitness levels you could want.
