Kickboxing: Does Age Matter?
What type of person do you think of when you think about kickboxing? It may well be someone who is young, strong and lean, and probably male too.
Kickboxing: Does Age Matter?
Yet the reality is somewhat different.
If you subscribe to the notion that these are the only people who do kickboxing, you’re missing out on huge swathes of the population. You’ll miss out on kids of all shapes, sizes and ages. You’ll certainly miss out on lots of women who take kickboxing classes each week. And you’ll miss out on lots of other age groups that take part as well.
If you think age is an obstacle to doing kickboxing, you’re probably right. But if you think your age has nothing to do with it, you’re right there as well. That’s what you need to remember here. You might imagine kickboxing could be harder for certain age groups, but really, it can be more challenging for some individuals than for others – regardless of age.
It all comes down to whether you want to give it a try. If you are still in school, approaching middle-age or celebrating retirement, why not book up a lesson in kickboxing today to see what you think? You might end up being quite surprised at how much you like it. It’s great for your fitness and motivation levels too, so wherever you are in life and whatever age you are celebrating, kickboxing has some great things to share with you.
And really, you’ve nothing to lose by booking a single lesson either. If you don’t like it or you feel it’s not for you, that’s not a problem. But until you try, you’ll never know what you might be capable of. Even if you are in your eighties you might be surprised at what you could do in a kickboxing class.
