Burn Calories with Kickboxing

The simple equation behind losing weight is to burn more calories than you take in via food and drink each day. Some forms of exercise burn more calories than others, so it is important to work out which ones are going to give you the best return on your time.

Kickboxing is a great way to burn lots of calories. It has plenty of other advantages too, such as making you fitter, more agile and more determined too. However, since it falls into the high-intensity category of exercise, you’ll burn more calories doing this than you would doing a lot of other types of exercise.

The exact amount you’ll burn depends on your weight. The heavier you are, the more you’ll burn. That’s great news for someone with a little extra weight to lose since you’ll get a greater calorie burn that can lead to easier weight loss to start with.

However even if you’re slim, maybe 9 stone for example, you’ll still be able to burn around 600 calories an hour. Of course it depends on how much activity you fit in during that hour, how many short breaks you take and the individual movements you make. However you’d probably still be happy if you burned half that in an hour-long lesson.

While you may join a kickboxing class purely to help you lose weight, there are plenty more advantages to doing so that you’ll benefit from. For instance this is an aerobic exercise and it is also great for improving on flexibility and balance. Many people find it great fun as well, which is good if you are looking to do something you will feel inspired to keep up with. The fact that other people are attending the same class means you can enjoy great company as a bonus.
